Cock-a-doodle-doo and Gilroy too

I started this 8×8″ painting of a rooster from A Housewife Writes because I wanted to, not because I think it will have a large market among my tens of followers.

I finished it for the same reason. He is wet and shiny in this photo; when he dries, I’ll try to remember to scan him for you (and for my own records.)

Amalia from A Housewife Writes named him Wayne, after John Wayne.

When I was in Gilroy, the pastoral rural scenes of fields and foothills struck me with their simple beauty. Gnat’s husband built a rustic fence, and Gnat and I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out how to best capture it with a camera. I gave up, and combined 3 photos to begin this painting. As with the rooster, this painting is simply because I want to paint it.

In case you are curious, this is a scene from Gilroy that captured me on my previous visit.

Never mind. Tech continues to confound, disrupt, betray, thwart, and mess with me. Can’t find the completed painting, but here is the beginnings of it. Plein Air Painting in Gilroyhttps://www.cabinart.net/plein-air-painting-in-gilroy/ (I referred to Gnat last year as Mrs. Texas.)

In time, I will return to the things that I know will sell to my tens of followers along with the one million visitors who pass through our little town.

HEY! I FOUND IT! (Why do photos keep disappearing within the albums on this laptop??)

Chances are that I touched it up even further before giving it to Gnat for her birthday this year.

  1. Wayne is a handsome fellow! It very well could sell – people love their chickens!
