Cabins as Inspiration

I’ve shown you random cabin photos of cabin details over the past 2 posts. Here are a few drawings of various cabin details I’ve depicted in pencil and colored pencil through the recent years. Some of these were commissioned drawings; others remain in my flat files. Should you be interested in purchasing, just email me. (cabinart at cabinart dot net)

From a few photos taken while at a cabin somewhere else.
As seen in yesterday’s photo post.
I drew this as a tutorial for Carrie Lewis’s website, https://www.carrie-lewis.com/, showing every single step.
I borrowed these enameled cups from a neighbor and rearranged them many times, seeking the best composition.
These were in the same neighbor cabin, photographed and drawn the first time in 1998 for The Cabins of Mineral King. (Obviously much tea and coffee drinking in that cabin)

I first drew this Hume Lake cabin in 1995, working from a photo provided by the cabin owner. In 2017, the daughter of the original owner invited me to visit, and I begged her to let me improve the drawing. Phew. Saved my professional reputation.

This Minnesota cabin was done working from photos and instructions via email, with someone I never met. (Thank you, Mr. Google.)

Finally, here is the most recent pencil commission of a cabin. I was thankful to find old photos that showed the windows, because now they are hidden by willows.

You can preorder now, here: https://mineral-king-preservation-society.square.site/ Trail Guy and I designed these a number of years ago, and then turned it all over to the Mineral King Preservation Society to use as a fund raising method.
