I don’t remember what pier this is. It is somewhere on the Central California coast.
I might be at jury duty today. After I got the summons, I sent in the excuse form which said that I am unavailable most months of the year except July, August, and December, when I am not teaching drawing lessons.
The county immediately sent me a summons for July 1. Oh boy.

Hey, I recognize that drawing–it’s on my wall calendar for July!
I have been on a jury twice. I consider it an honor to be called and serve. I realize it involves a lot of “hurry up and wait” time, but who better to render the proper verdict than one who holds law-abiding, moral behavior as the standard for citizens to follow? Well, maybe these days that’s rare, but I’m still sad that I won’t be called anymore now that I am a, ahem, “seasoned citizen.”
Sharon, I bet you could volunteer!
Hey, I like that idea! I’ll check into it!
I love this drawing, which is on my July calendar! You really captured the water reflections beautifully.
Aw shucks, thank you Michelle! This one was on the wall by my drawing table for a long time. I added it into the show I did last summer as an afterthought, and it was probably the first drawing that sold!
Don’t you love that? Here’s hoping you get through your jury duty time without having to actually report in and deal with commuting back and forth as well as rescheduling any lessons.
Kris, it felt like a wasted day. Had to be there at 9, told the court wasn’t ready until 11 (whatever that meant…?), 1/2 the folks got called in, and the rest of us got sent on a 2-1/2 hour lunch break awhile later. I contacted a former drawing student and she met me for lunch. We returned at 1:30, sat for another hour, were sent on a 15 minute break and then dismissed when we returned. Initially my summons was for June, but I requested July because I don’t teach drawing lessons in July or August. I was able to get some groceries, came home, and redeemed the day by making dinner for a family from church who are going through some hard times. Phew.
