Distraction from California Art

If you are a follower of my blog or just know me, you are aware that I have a bit of a knitting hobby. Hmmm, that may be a bit understated. I have a bit of a knitting obsession. I am not just a knitter, I am a Knitter. Today was one of the most fun I’ve had with a paintbrush in a while. Painting yarn is the best way I know to combine 2 of my favorite activities (although i suppose I could knit with paintbrushes instead of needles).

One more to go – I think it will have a combo of 3 new colors of yarn. They have to dry so I can sign them and then take official portfolio photographs. Ahem. This is a serious art/business endeavor, you know!

  1. I like it. Nice fuzzy texture, great colors.

    • Thank you, Joy! It was fun because the colors didn’t have to match exactly but could be just whatever I wanted. And putting in the fuzzy edge was much easier than I expected. . . this could become a new series! (if all the paintings for the solo show, the commissions, and to sell at SC this summer get done)

  2. Wow! Your work is amazing. I’m so glad you visited my blog and left a comment so I could follow the link and see yours. You are so prolific and do beautiful work and put so much of your personality and style into it. I’ve never seen paintings of yarn before. What a great idea — all the color and texture! I still can’t believe those are paintings, even after clicking to see them bigger–they just look so real. You made me laugh with the “knitting with paintbrushes” — I bet it’s possible (but probably not advisable!).

    • Thanks, Jana! I love your blog with its subtle humor and whimsical sketches, along with the oil paintings. You too are prolific as well as versatile, and I’m hoping my readers will click on your link. And if I didn’t have needles or yarn, I just might knit rope using shovel handles or twine using paintbrushes. (See what I mean about an obsession?)
