I thought this would be easy to finish, forgetting that it is much faster to cover large areas with a wide brush than little bittty dots of color with a tiny brush. Feeling bold, I messed up the sky with aspen leaves.

See the photo in my hand? Many aspens. This photo carries more weight than the stack of Sawtooth photos I’ve been using so far because it has the best aspens.

The leaf mess in the sky is now aspen trees.

I’m tired of green now.

That yellow and white were so fun that it is time for red.

After I got these wildflowers done, I stopped for lunch. While I was downing something fast and boring but nutritious (thank you for your concern), I faced the fact that I just didn’t want to work on the 12×24” horizontal painting of Sawtooth. If I didn’t want to paint it, why would anyone want to buy it?

Time for a new thought. Come back tomorrow if you are curious.

Wow, wow, wow, wow! So cool to see the painting change from one photo to the next. It really comes alive with all the little bits of color (and I love seeing the aspen tress develop).
Thanks, Kris! My hope for a decent outcome increases with each painting session.
I am excited to see what you do next. Love the pops of colour in the flowers.
I have been working on a creative project today and reached a point where it no longer felt fun so I’m shelving it for now! Life is too short.
Elisabeth, when I realized I was dreading work on that painting, I remembered that I am the boss of me and my painting and it couldn’t make me paint it, so there!
Life is too short to spend time on optional activities that aren’t enjoyable.
No, no, it’s “Sawtooth” because there’s only one tooth! The round metal thingie you painted that hangs in the Silver City store could be “Sawteeth,” right?
And it looks like the difference between your PIP* and the photo in your hand is that the photo was taken along the Nature Trail. Both wonderful views of our icon, to be sure!
*Painting In Progress
Two paintings of one item named “tooth” equals “tooths” in my strange little mind. The round metal thingie in the Silver City Store has teeth, but one Sawtooth. The photo in hand was taken along the Nature Trail; the painting was concocted from my memories of the best parts of the Nature Trail (although when walking up, I prefer where it flattens out as one approaches Sunny Point).
