First Murals!

I have been told that murals are The Way To Earn A Living as a painter. . . maybe, but first I need to learn how! So, these are my first attempts, and are at my house rather than out in public.  The poppies came first – a smallish way to learn to use acrylics. Farewell Gap was the goal, and I painted it over and over, progressively larger until I felt ready (sort of) to try it 81″ x 81″.  The first photo show it in progress . . . the second shows how the main one looks with a “frame”.pict0001.jpg first-mural.jpg

  1. Jana,
If only we could get the community of Idaho Falls together long enough to plan and have someone execute murals. As you could see when you were here, we have more than enough derelict buildings to work on. Love your new blog and miss my drawing lessons in Exeter each Monday.

  2. Jana, I wish I had the talent you do, but I am progressing along with my oil painting. I finally saw a man do Acrylics on Wednesday. I think this might be the way for me to go in the near future. Your work is terrific, I keep waiting for you to start a new teaching painting class. Keep up the Great work. You are my inpiration.

  3. Jana:

I think you should contact the company that makes the pre-fab storage sheds and barns, etc and have them offer an option that comes with a mural. Some folks will jump at the chance. Instead of cabinart you can be known as shedhouseart. All kidding and puning aside I think it is a viable idea.

  4. Hello my hi-tech (?) friend:

You did a book so now you can do a mural – choose your wall in Exeter and get started! It would be wonderful, let me know when you intend to do this.

  5. Jana – Stunning. I want to go there, and I don’t even know where “there” is!

  6. Your Farewell Gap mural is the bomb! We can’t wait to see the Sea Train.
