busy busy

Here is the painting that was a little bit shy yesterday. It is a bit of an experiment, using the purple (Sorry, Lisa!) violet/blue background. I’m still not sure which way should be up, so it isn’t yet signed. (besides, it is too wet and I might mess up!)

Then it was just too hot to paint, so I moved into the studio and worked on this piece. Remember this? I wrote about it and showed it in the June 6 posting, titled “Commissions”. Here is another small portion of the piece:

Working on the snow portion helped me not hot-to-death. (This is not proper English, in case my Chinese friends are wondering!)  I was a little worked up because the A/C in our house croaked and no one was calling back to repair it. This caused snow to have a strong appeal.

And, I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know that Juan from Lindsay answered his phone, showed up on time, gave a fair estimate, got the new unit and by 8:00 p.m. it was installed and keeping us all cool! Thank you, Juan!!! (possibly my new best friend)

  1. Nice job on these lemon paintings. Keep up the good work. The almost complementary colors (yellow and blue-violet) really set each other off well. Blessings, Diana

  2. Yep, it’s yours! And I am definitely a heat-wimp – South Louisiana in the summer holds no appeal for me.

  3. Is this part of my piece? I hope, I hope! From this slice, I can’t really imagine how it’s all going to go together, but I love the detail you put in your drawings, and these snippets look so beautiful… I’m glad that thinking about the snow, got you through a hot day with no AC 🙂 You know how I prepare for a visit to South Louisiana in the summertime? I think “sauna” or “steam bath” right before I step off the airplane, and that does the trick every time. My body re-acclimates itself back to that hot humid weather. I don’t care if the temperature here reaches 150 degrees. It’s never as humid as South Louisiana, where 86 degrees Fahrenheit with 96% relative humidity is all too often our daytime reading, and the nights are just about the same… To think cool thoughts, I think about lemonade and cold spiced apple cider, a dip in the pool or river, guacamole and fresh salsa, and sometimes I think about sipping a mint julip from Pat O’Brien’s courtyard. I love summertime :-))
