May Flowers!

Last month my 9th blogiversary slipped past unnoted. However, I am giving us some flowers to mark this milestone. Milestone? That makes it sound as if it has been a slog, a triathalon, an endless amount of work. Nope – I have loved everything about it (except finding someone to fix the blog when things go haywire.)

Belated Happy Blogiversary to us, Beloved Blogreaders!

(These are all in bloom in my yard now, last week, the week before. . . just part of the commute between the house and studio and a big fat distraction from painting.)

Speaking of distractions. . .

This last one is a little oil painting I began as a gift for a friend. We recently reconnected, and I learned that sunflowers have a special meaning for her. She is tough, brave, and is using some horrible circumstances in her life to help others through similar difficulties. Carla, I salute you! (I gave you my card but neglected to get one from you – get in touch with me soon, okay?)

  1. Love your flowers, Jana. Especially the last one shown. So pretty!

    • Cheryl, if you mean the last photo of flowers, those are called by the horrible name of “freeway daisies”! Isn’t that bizarre? They must have a real name. If you mean the sunflower painting, of course you like it, you Kansan!

  2. Beautiful — thank you.

    • Sally, you are kind, as always. Thank you!

  3. Flowers, flowers – Thanks for sharing with us ! I am sure that flowers will be in heaven!

    • Absolutely, Sally, unless there is something better that we cannot even begin to imagine.

  4. Love the ‘trail not maintained’ sign …

    • Diane, that went up after I wrecked my ankle on that trail. Since then we’ve carved in steps, but the sign serves as a reminder that I can wreck an entire year of my life with one misstep.

  5. Flowers! Flowers! Love the photos. Even Samson seems to be enjoying spring. But how do you get hydrangeas to survive (and thrive) in such hot and dry conditions??

(My favorite picture is of the pink rose. So beautiful, so delicate!)

    • Sharon, I am just blown away by my yard this spring! I only have one hydrangea, the deer have eaten it down to nubs so it has never bloomed. Our yard isn’t hot and dry now, but will be that way soon. I’m not sure which flower you thought was a hydrangea, so maybe I needed to name them.

    • Sharon, that is a Snowball Bush, a member of the Spirea family.

      • Oh, they sure look like hydrangeas to me. Sure are pretty!

        • Me too, Sharon! It took awhile to discover what they are.
